Offington Park can bask in the glory of their 75th birthday celebrations held on Saturday. The sun shone on a truly happy day which dawned with James, Tony and other friends
inviting passerby in Broadwater area to come along and join in the party.
Church Mouse had the honour of opening the festivities by lighting a candle on his cheesecake.
Over 350 hamburgers and sausages were served and that is a measure of how popular the day proved. The car park was taken
over for the barbecue and fete and events were organised in the Allan Fletcher Hall. The church itself was laid out as a
labyrinth where visitors could travel on a journey, taking time out for quiet reflection. The Offington Proclaimers performed live
and Jb, the illusionist, fascinated us.
There are so many people and organisations to thank for making the day what it was. We enjoyed ourselves with the
challenges of buzzer games, Hook a Duck, Grab a Boat, Hoopla, Ball in a Basket and basket ball. And who could resist wetting their Dad or even Granddad, in the stocks!
The stalls for the fete in the car park were all loaned to us from neighbouring schools. Thank you Broadwater CE School, The Vale in Findon Valley and West Park CE.
The Fire Brigade called in at 4 o’clock, thankfully not because of the barbecue getting out of control, but to let aspiring fire fighters clamber over their beloved fire engine. Thank you for your support !
Lionel brought his vintage car along. For those of you who were guessing the number of balloons in it, altogether there were 158, and the answer to the question about the age of the car, it was a 1924 Rhodes
